Roo ♥ Mia

***WINNER PICKED 6/27 WITH RANDOM.ORG***

***CONGRATULATIONS, 3 for Me!!!!!***

her comment...
The Mia reading adventure sounds great for my 4-yr old going through the early reading stages... it is soo exciting.

But I also thought the Kidnap Caper (learning the second language) game would be cool!! I'd LOVE to have the whole family learn another language:)

Roo hasn't spent much time on the computer yet. I figure she's four, she has plenty of time. We watch the occasional YouTube weirdness, but nothing I would deem educational. Partially because I am reluctant to get her hooked on the computer, lest she eat up my precious Twitter time and partially because she's only four, dude!

Lately, though, she's been making remarkable strides in her spelling and penmanship. Totally uncoerced by me or her dad or even her preschool. She just suddenly decided it might be fun to write letters. And her drawing has become recognizable, with features where one would expect to find them, the proper number of fingers and toes, etc. So when Kutoka Interactive sent me their latest Mia Mouse edutainment DVD title to try out, Roo was a willing and able game tester.

Mia’s Reading Adventure: The Bugaboo Bugs is a charming way to get your child to practice their reading skills. It is a bit advanced for Roo still– she had trouble with using the arrow keys to move the characters and lost interest when we tried to play the whole game instead of individual activities. She loved the seamless movie segments (I couldn't get over how cool the animation was since the last video game I really played was probably like Tron… in the arcade. Wow, I am ancient.) and wanted to play the activity with the crazy jellybean machine and the missing letters over and over again.

Since Roo is not reading by herself yet, she needed me to help her a lot, which ticked her off a bit and she got frustrated when things took too long or she didn't understand something. I think The Bugaboo Bugs would be perfect for a Kindergartner or First Grader with rudimentary reading ability. It is recommended for ages 5-9 but I would probably say 5-7, realistically. Mia is sweet and cute and engaging but she isn't really tween queen material. I look forward to letting Roo loose with her alone sometime soon.

To enter and win a copy of Mia’s Reading Adventure: The Bugaboo Bugs, please comment on this post with your favorite game from Kutoka Interactive.

Entries will be accepted through June 26th and I'll pick the winner using Random.org. US/Canada readers are eligible. Only one entry/comment per person, please.

Make sure you leave an email address in your comment or that you have one accessible on your blog so you can be contacted if you win! Or, you may choose to check for your nickname at Prizey.Fetch, a new site that compiles winners in one convenient place:
