Jocelyn from Hip Mama's Place hooked me up with a trial bottle of Skin MD Natural shielding lotion. Generally, I am a fan of lotions and potions with exotic scents and schmancy packaging but since Jasper was born, my skin has been remarkably dry so I was willing to give it a go. Especially after I saw this crazy video, in which a scientist uses Skin MD Natural to protect his hands from rock-eating acids. Yikes!
Bob has been working with various epoxy resins for casting in the studio and managed to give himself chemical burns a while back (The epoxy melted the latex gloves he was wearing into his skin and caused blistering. Yes, my husband is trouble-prone.) Anyway, I figured if I didn't like Skin MD Natural, I could always pass the bottle on to him as an extra layer of protection along with his nitrile gloves. He never stood a chance.
Skin MD Natural is like nothing I have used before. It's non-greasy and absorbs quickly, feeling sort of like a watery hair gel in consistency at first. It uses your body's natural ability to retain moisture, instead of artificially trying to create new moisture. Initially, I wasn't very impressed, but on my second application, I realized that although my skin didn't have the sort of sticky, dewy feeling you usually get from moisturizers, I no longer had any dryness. This was especially obvious on my horrible old lady cracked heels, which you should be grateful I refrained from photographing. I also have the world's dryest cuticles and Skin MD Natural made them supple enough to avoid picking at them. Impressive.
Now if they'd only come up with a version in a frou-frou bottle, I am sure everyone would want to try it!
