***CONGRATULATIONS, Ariana!!!***
her comment... I LOVE the Olivia shoes in brown-- so adorable, and not too cutesy!

Kuuru is a new (three months old!) line of shoes available for sizes 3-9. They are simple and elegant, impeccably detailed and funky without being weird. Kind of like Prada for preschoolers. Except the retail price is actually pretty reasonable: $37-$39 per pair.

There are no cutesy pictures, primary colors or dumbed-down style in Kuuru's inaugural collection. Kuuru is the Japanese pronunciation of the word "cool" and the name epitomizes the casual chic that mompreneur owner/designer Helen Chang dreamed of bringing to the pre-K set.

Jasper tried the Adam in olive green. He's not quite walking yet, so the concept of hard soled shoes is not particularly appealing to him, but I have to say that they are by far the most stylish little boys' sandals I have ever seen. The leather is absolutely luscious. (Seriously, I kept smelling them. Sick but true.) A far cry from the clunky orthopedic white sandals of my youth that sawed strapmarks permanently into my ankles with their stiff cardboard-y leather.
Roo got the Alyssa in purple and green. This fetching floral sandal is also available in orange and brown. While Roo contends that they are not actually purple beause they are not, say, the color of Barney, she admits they are very comfortable and even "really pretty." Whenever she wears them, people stop us to ask about them. They are seriously that cute.

My kids aren't the only ones digging their Kuuru kicks: celebrity tots like Salma Hayek's daughter Valentina love them, too! And did I mention the lovely packaging? Kuuru features chocolate brown boxes with pale blue typography in a sleek, modern san serif font. It matches this blog perfectly, down to the spare green accents… Serendipity, people.
