Jasper Killed My iPad

This morning, Jasper woke up crazy early, as he is wont to do. 5am early. Being a bad parent, I shooed him away and told him he could play with my iPad. Which kept him occupied until about 5:30am, when I heard a plaintive "sorry, mommy, I broke your iPad." Umm, great.

He was playing Army of Darkness (appropriate for a 4 year old, I know; blame his father) and dropped it. He's dropped it a zillion times before but my Mophie case broke last week so it was naked and vulnerable. The screen has a spiderweb haze of cracked glass.

Apparently all the innards are okay, at least, but Apple quoted me $419 + S/H and tax to replace it. I've heard that Apple Stores might be able to replace the glass for a smaller fee but the closest one is in Tulsa or KC, a three hour drive away. I always knew the Evil Dead were bad news.

And to add insult to injury, Stella pooped in her crate. Happy Saturday, mommy. Bah humbug!

  1. OUCH! I'm in agony for you right now. We don't have a decent quality case on our iPad so I'm probably just asking for trouble, but I'd probably cry all day if something like this happened. Sunday will definitely be better. Promise.

  2. is the kid still alive, or has he joined the ranks of the undead? if you managed to keep your cool and not actually kill jasper, then it was a pretty good day ;)
do you have a best buy near you? they generally do that kind of repair for waaaay cheaper...

  5. Jasper is alive and well but I haven't decided what to do about the iPad yet. There are non-Apple glass repair options that are much less expensive but still $200 I wasn't planning on spending. Argh.
