Nokia Lumia 900 Windows Phone

One of the things I got to play with on my recent Ford trip was the whole roster of new Windows phones. The different handsets all possess their own charms but I was drawn to the Nokia Lumia 900 because I'm an AT&T subscriber.

The Lumia 900 is made of smooth molded polycarbonate that feels great in your hands and pockets, plus it's available in fun colors like cyan and pink. Yes, I was drawn to the pretty blue phone– I'll admit it. In my defense, I was also drawn to its huge 4.3" ClearBlack AMOLED display and Carl Zeiss optics. The display is very, very crisp and easy to see, even in bright outdoor light.

Here's how it looks next to my mom's iPhone:

A little bit bigger but also quite a bit thinner. It's also signficantly faster at connecting and browsing. I do really like the Windows tiles to navigate and "pin" your most-used pages and apps. Bing functionality is nicely integrated, as are your social networks and gmail. I actually prefer the way email works on the Windows platform to my own iPhone's mail function. I like how you can scroll your contacts visually with a swipe of your finger.

There were few downsides to my time with the Lumia 900. My biggest complaint was that its battery life seems a little iffy. Several times I thought it was charged only to find it needing to be plugged in before use. I also couldn't get used to the position of the power button on the middle side. Roo loves watching YouTube on it because of the pretty screen and good sound quality. She's still a little young for her own phone but it would be an ideal one if she was a bit older.

  1. I've had all three platforms and I totally agree with you about mail. Windows has the best system. I have an iPhone now and that's actually my least favorite of the three in terms of mail.

    Gorgeous phone!
