Hmmm, tough to choose just one that was my favorite. But as a younger child, my favorites were probably the Berenstein Bear books. As an older child, one was "As the Red Fern Grows". Great giveaway, thanks!

I loved the Egypt Game!

Wow, I just noticed that I posted my 200th post yesterday… how cool is that? I had my first giveaway on my 100th post, so let's make the 201st a giveaway, too! And since March is Reading Month, what better way to celebrate than with an old favorite, Scholastic Books?

We recently received two DVD titles from the newly relaunched Scholastic Storybook Treasures series and they are fabulous. Each one presents the title story as well as several bonus stories and clocks in between sixty and ninety minutes. I remember the old filmstrips that animated favorite stories from when I was little and they have come a long way since the days when you had to push a button when you heard the beep… engagingly told and faithfully adapted, these DVDs actually encourage reading along, with a special function that allows your child to follow the narration. The first one we watched was Curious George Rides a Bike...and a lot more monkeying around. The little monkey is as mischevious as ever and, of course, wildly popular with the kids. Roo loves him. This DVD also presents two of the featured stories in Spanish.

We also watched Chicka Chicka Boom Boom...and more fun with letters and numbers. Roo loves the rhythmic rhyming, just like in the book. My favorite stories on this DVD were classics I remembered from my childhood, though: Blueberries For Sal and Millions of Cats.

There is also a fantastic (and exhaustive!) 16-DVD Scholastic Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics. I'm looking forward to Knuffle Bunny...and more great childhood adventure stories, which is one of Roo's favorite contemporary books. It's even narrated by the author, Mo Willems!

Scholastic Storybook Treasures is a great series to expose kids to, especially for only $15 per disc. Hopefully your kids will enjoy reading as much as watching TV!

To enter and win your own 2-DVD set of Scholastic Storybook Treasures (Curious George Rides a Bike and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom), please comment on this post with your favorite childhood storybook.

Entries will be accepted through March 26th and I'll pick TWO winners using Random.org. US/Canada readers are eligible. Only one entry/comment per person, please.
