Häagen-Dazs Five is as Good as it Looks

***WINNER PICKED 5/1 WITH RANDOM.ORG***
Congratulations, zestywonderland!!!***

her comment...
I have to admit every Ice Cream memory is my favorite!

In the past 5 years I have had tummy surgry twice.
Both times I was on a liquid & soft ffod diet for a month or more afterwards.
he only thing I had to look forward to was huge bowl of ice cream!

I would most love to eat the milk chocolate !

Häagen-Dazs Five ice cream is made from just five simple ingredients: milk, cream, sugar, eggs, plus an all-natural flavor. No preservatives or fillers with unpronounceable names. No chemically-derived thickeners or binders. No high fructose corn syrup. Nothing you wouldn't use in making your own homemade ice cream but these are also blessed with the extraordinary creaminess of its more complex Häagen-Dazs brethren. We received four varieties to sample: mint, ginger, passion fruit and brown sugar. (The other flavors are vanilla bean, coffee, and milk chocolate. Which I would like to respectfully demand Häagen-Dazs send me ASAP…)

I honestly can't tell you how delicious these are! I was hard-pressed to pick a favorite Häagen-Dazs Five flavor. First it was brown sugar, with its caramelicious dulce de leche smoothness. Then I tried the ginger and was impressed by its subtlety of flavor. (Take note, pregnant ladies- this one will be good to ease the morning sickness and ice cream cravings, in one fell swoop.) Bob and I were blown away by the lushness of the passion fruit; it easily rivals the frou frou tropical desserts we've had at five star places my parents have dragged us to in Hawaii. When I tried the mint, I was instantly taken back to childhood when mint chocolate chip ice cream could cure all of life's troubles. I didn't even miss chocolate bits and cookie chunks, which have been a de facto part of my ice cream consumption for quite some time. Incredibly, sticking to just five pure and simple ingredients naturally keeps Häagen-Dazs Five healthier than other premium ice creams, with one-third less fat. If you have the willpower to keep from eating the entire container in one sitting, that is.

Thanks to Mom Central for adding several inches to my hips.

  3. My favorite Ice cream memories are always of my twin sister and I sitting on the steps outside our Long Island home when we were little in the scorching summer heat in our bathing suits eating an ice cream cone while we were taking a POOL BREAK!

We could NOT afford the ice cream man, and the other kids in the neighborhood could, but OURS was so much better!!!!!

  5. One of my favorite ice cream memories is from a few years ago. I was in the hospital having back surgery, and my fiance knew I was feeling down. So, to cheer me up, he brought one of the individual serving cups of Haagen-Dazs. Definitely cheered me up!

I'm looking forward to trying the coffee flavor. Coffee has always been my favorite ice cream flavor!

    Thanks for the contest!

  6. Coming home from grade school, there was a little corner store with an Ice Cream counter. I remember getting my first taste of butter pecan in a sugar cone from this store. It was a true spring treat to stop for a cone. I would love to try the new five flavor Coffee.

  7. My favourite ice cream memory is walking to baskin robbins with my family every weekend in the summer for a cone. There's something about being young and going for ice cream that you never forget!

And, of these, it's hard to decide between brown sugar and ginger!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ok, you had me at ice cream! I too would love to try all of those, but especially the ginger, since despite my self-proclaimed exotic food tasting, I've never had ginger ice cream.

I have a fond memory of frequently visiting my friend in Manhattan and always making a stop in Chinatown with her to go to this great little hole in the wall (the place was literally about 9 feet wide from wall to wall) where they had the most exotic flavors. I was especially taken by the green tea ice cream and the pumpkin pie flavor, which in the late 90s, was pretty exotic.

My favorite Ice-Cream memory is was back in around 1967. My Gandmother showed up at our house for a family get together and brought a bucket with a crank on it. After everyone had eaten, my Mother came out and poured strawberries and stuff in that contraption and we kids began to crank. We took turns and my Dad kept adding ice and salt around it. And we cranked! Just when the kids were getting ready to give up and quit. Here came my Mom with bowls and an Ice-cream scooper! I will never ever forget how super delishious that home-made ice-cream really was. I can't wait to try the Passion fruit version of my childhood ice-cream dreams. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice-cream!

  116. Ice cream memories...hmmm...my family vacationed on Coronado Island every summer when I was growing up. The ice cream truck would often go up-and-down the street where our family was renting a house and my dad would let us each pick our own special treat sometimes. :)

I would try the milk chocolate or coffee flavors from the FIVE collection first.

I have to say that seeing Haagen-Dazs all around the blogosphere has definitely imprinted their "brand" in my mind. Now, I keep wanting to get a little tub every time I go to the grocery store!?!

Now, Goodhumor is sold by the millions in grocery stores but then it was an event.

  164. When I was a teenager, I went to my friend's house for a sleepover (it was her birthday). We had already eaten supper and had fixed our huge bowls of ice cream, and her dad decided that it was time for his yearly prayer over his daughter. So we all bowed our heads and prayed... and prayed, and prayed a little more! Eventually, I started nodding off, and finally I ended up with my face in my big bowl of (now melted) mint chocolate chip ice cream!
I would love to try all of these flavors, but I think I would like to try the ginger the most.
