WowWee Robot Giveaway!

***WINNER PICKED 5/1 WITH RANDOM.ORG***

***CONGRATULATIONS, judybrittle (non-blogger)!!!***

her comment...
My favorite is the White Tiger Cub. That is really adorable and I learned
that you can stroke its back, pat its head or cradle it in your arms and it responds with blinking eyes, an animated mouth and cub sounds! My granddaughter would love this! Thank you so much!

And I was corrected- two winners were supposed to be drawn (one for each toy- judybrittle's comment said alive cub but she picked tribot), so I picked another today 5/7:

***CONGRATULATIONS, #106 onthegomommy!!!***

her comment...
My daughter would love the Wowwee Alive Cubs. I have your button on my blog and I'm a subscriber.

At 20 months, Jasper is a connoisseur of robot toys. I've been fascinated with animatronics since seeing Westworld on TV when I was little but never thought that robotic toys were particularly fun. I remember my cousins had Teddy Ruxpin dolls and I thought they were horrifying. I like the kitsch value of cold war tin toy robots and Jasper got his middle name from Astro Boy, but I didn't realize my second child would be OBSESSED with robots. "Bot" is actually his favorite word and he even likes to put bowls and buckets on his head to pretend to be a robot. It's hysterical. Except when he refuses to change out of his robot jammies. Then it's not so funny…

Jasper is particularly enamored of a gigantic seventies Shogun Warrior robot that we've had since way before we even contemplated having kids. Roo used to play with Mazinger G but she's pretty much ceded all the robots in the household to her little brother. She's nice that way, sometimes. Contemporary robot toys tend to fade in comparison to the Japanese robot toys of our youth, not to mention break easily. So it was nice to discover WowWee, a company devoted to the synergy of robotics and toys. Their slogan is "Astonishing Imagination" and it definitely apt.

We received a couple of WowWee toys to review. The first is an amazing remote controlled robot called Tri-Bot. He's a fire-engine red talking jokester and both kids think he's hilarious. Tri-Bot has three omnidirectional wheels that make him one of the most all-terrain remote control toys I have ever seen.

Tri-Bot's tilt-sensitive controller is easy enough for Jasper and Roo to use. You can even program him to do sequences of up to 40 moves, although that's a little beyond us at this point. Older kids (and techie parents!) will love putting Tri-Bot through his paces!

Tri-Bot's "free-roam" mode is truly impressive- he actually seems to move autonomously. This is the future in action! Tri-Bot has some parent-friendly features, too: volume control, standby and sleep mode, and three onboard driving games.

Of course, many kids prefer cuddlier toys. WowWee has them covered, too, with the insanely adorable WowWee Alive Cubs. They look like standard plush stuffed animals, but inside lies the heart of a robot! WowWee Alive Cubs blink their eyes, make animal noises and even snore themselves to sleep. Roo has the White Tiger Cub and I must admit that I have spent a little too much time petting it to make it purr… much to the chagrin of our six real cats!

Different species of WowWee Alive Cubs are also available- lion cub, panda bear cub, and polar bear cub. Smaller cubs will be available soon and also dogs, which I know Roo will be thrilled about since she is just about as obsessed with dogs as Jasper is with robots!

To enter and win your own Tri-Bot or WowWee Alive Cub, please comment on this post with which toy you would choose and your favorite item or fact learned from WowWee's website. There will be two winners– one winner for each toy.

Entries will be accepted through April 29th and I'll pick the winner using Random.org. US readers are eligible. Only one entry/comment per person, please.

For an additional entry, post my button on your blog, follow my blog, fave me on Technorati or subscribe via email or subscribe via reader and leave an extra comment letting me know.

Make sure you leave an email address in your comment or that you have one accessible on your blog so you can be contacted if you win! Or, you may choose to check for your nickname at Prizey.Fetch, a site that compiles winners in one convenient place:

I learned that RS Tri-bot comes equipped with a tilt-sensitive remote controller. Point the controller towards him, twist your wrist and he will follow!

  3. I would like to win Tri-Bot the most too. That is cool! I learned from the web site that they are currently working on a feature-length motion picture inspired by WowWee’s Robosapien robot. I love Mr. Personality too.

  4. What a cool robot! SoJo is not into them yet, but definitely has an inclination toward mechanical things, like the remote control car we have. He's always bringing it to me or his dad, saying "ca" "ca" for car.

I love that Flytech Dragonfly, and also Wrex the dog. That is so comical. The Fembot thing is pretty freaky though. Like some lonely techie's girlfriend.

Wow, it would be hard to choose between the tri-bot and the cub... My son would love the robot, but my daughter would love the white tiger cub! I personally lean toward the cub, but either would be great!
