Roo has been obsessed with American flags lately, she sees them everywhere. While I'm no subversive element, I am usually not the most patriotic of citizens. I've never been much of a joiner, in general. In light of the recent toy recalls, though, perhaps some consumer-based nationalism would be appropriate. I'm sure there are tons of crummy American-made products, too, but they're at least a little less likely to contain lead.
In the spirit of getting you to boycott Chinese goods,
Not China Made, a blog whose subtitle is "
an exploration into the dangers of trading with China," is having a contest for a $50 American Apparel gift certificate. Find info there not only on dangerous Chinese exports, but also appalling labor conditions and social policies, etc. I'm not entirely sure who would support this sort of thing.
Check it out, enter the contest, make up your own mind.
And buy indie, while you're at it!
Actually there is a very growing population of people "supporting this sort of thing "- if you are referring to the site :) If you are referring to the bad conditions- we support it every day by buying it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering the contest.
Sorry, mommy zabs, my wording was sketchy. I meant that I didn't know who among us would condone such human rights violations. I didn't mean to ask who would support your blog!
ReplyDeleteGood :) I had a hunch you meant that :);) But of course if you meant it the other way, I wouldn't hold it against you. That's the great thing about America, we are allowed to have opinions and voice them!
