This is my first time participating in a Blog Carnival, so I'm excited. And, for once, it's not all about your kids, either! This time, I'm giving away a cute little makeup palette from Too Faced which I had every intention of using but, well, I just don't get out very much these days. And yet I still buy way too much makeup.

I love its retro pulp paperback styling and compact size– a little bigger than a business card but smaller than a deck of cards. Tiny enough to slip into your diaper bag, for sure, and even a shirt pocket if necessary, but it features two eye shadows, two lip glosses and blush in a "passionate plum palette." I think it would suit most skin tones.

To enter and win this Too Faced Quickie Chronicle in Temptress (a $15 value!), please comment on this post with your favorite makeup story! Entries will be accepted through February 3rd and I'll pick the winner using Random.org. I will ship anywhere for the sake of Bloggy fun, so please enter wherever you may live.

Make sure you leave an email address in your comment or that you have one accessible on your blog so you can be contacted if you win! If I can't find your email, I will have to pick a new winner. Only one entry/comment per person, please.

  1. I'm just now getting into make up: not because my mom wouldn't let me wear any growing up, but because I was always worried that my brothers would make fun of me...so I would always lie and say that my mom wouldn't let me wear any in high school.

  2. Ooo, I LOVE Too Faced! Awesome giveaway! I'm not sure I have a favorite story, so how about my least favorite: when I was on vacation in Mexico, I dropped my make up bag hard enough to break three of the compacts & all of my eyeshadow crumbled in their containers. Needless to say, I found a big mess in my make up bag when I picked it up. Does that count? haha :)

  3. Great giveaway - I actually just started wearing makeup on a reg basis in the past few years - just turned 40 and so now I really need it LOL.

It really is difficult to find just the right stuff for your skin type without spending a fortune too.

My current fav is Ultra smooth foundation by The Body Shop - even covers my rosesca.

  4. I'm so pleased to be your very first entry in your very first Blog Carnival. Pick me pick me pick me. The first time I ever wore makeup in public was when I was about 12 years old. My parents had to go out, so my sister and I were to walk to a neighbor's home for dinner and stay there until they picked us up. I thought it would be safe to wear makeup since my mother wouldn't be there and proceeded to put on some of her blue, yes blue, eyeshadow. My younger sister told me I was going to get in trouble, but too bad. Anyway, long story short--we got to the neighbor's house. After about 5 minutes, the wife said to me "honey, what did you do to your eye? Is that a bruise? Oh my both of your eyes are bruised. Let me get some ice." She made me lay on the couch with an ice pack on my head. I was extremely embarrassed. Even my sister showed me no mercy. Anyway, I have NEVER worn blue eye shadow again.

  5. A favorite makeup story, that is a hard one. But I am going to say when my two year old baby girl got into every product I own. Boy, did she look good!

  6. A couple of years ago I took the plunge and went to the local MAC counter for a consult. I left with a ton of goodies, all excited to try my hand with my new make-up, and a couple nights later, went out with some girlfriends. They all noticed my make-up immediately and I beamed in pride until one kind-hearted friend pulled me aside and gently told me that it was just too dark and I may want to work on blending and using a lighter touch.

I was mortified, but haven't made the same mistake since!

  9. Love the giveaway!

My best makeup story is coming home, and finding DD (age3) putting on makeup in the bathroom. (Dad didn't realize that no noise is a clue that something bad is happening) Anyway, I say her, covered in garish eyeshadow, heavy blush, and bright red lipstick, and she asken me "Mama am I beautiful?" I just melted....and made sure my makeup was locked up after that...but I did buy her some inexpensive powder , lipgloss, and nude colored blush and eyeshadow for play... (She has to scrub before we go out)

  10. When I was a little girl, I got into my mother's body powder and painted my face white and then proceeded to get out her nail polish and paint my whole feet.

  11. My fav story is like many of the others...when their child got into their makeup. Well, I have a boy and he didn't get into makeup, but he got into body butter. It was EVERYWHERE!!!! And do you know how hard that stuff is to get off?

    ReplyDelete
  12. My best makeup story was when my 2 yr old dumped my b.e. eyeliner and husband had to buy me a new one and in the process I got the new platinum kit! I had to post about it on my blog. She still loves to get into my makeup.

  13. when I turned 16 my father said I could finally use makeup... all my friends had been using it since they were like 12! lol so HE decided for my birthday that year he would buy me some and instead of consulting someone as to what would go with my coloring... he simply went and bought what colors he thought were "pretty"! I ended up with light blue and green eyeshadows, dark purple lipstick and almost red blush to go with my olive skin and very dark read hair! I eventually ended up using it for an art project in college!

  20. When I was 9-ish, my mother, sister and I would do makeovers on each other. One time I gave my mother little eyeliner curlicues next to her eyes and she never let me do her make-up again without giving me a hard time about it.

  22. A few of my fav girlfriend throw an annual Girlie Gala - crazy themes, lots of goodies, yummy drinks and silly games. Basically a grown-up slumber party. A couple years ago one of the games was a blindfolded make-over. I was one of the people being 'made' so I wasn't blindfolded. Watching 15 hooded girls applying make-up to friends was one of the funniest things I've seen - lots of giggles and wow did we look hot after that game.

  31. My older sister is artsy fartsy which means my little sister and myself would always end up being her model for whatever she was into at that point in her life. For a while she was really into make-up and liked to play the make-up artist. We hated having her put make-up on us because when she'd put eyeshadow on us it felt like she was licking her finger and putting it on our eye lid - cold and wet. Still to this day we have no idea what she was doing. Maybe she really was doing that!

  36. I was an everyday make-up wearer from the time I was 13 (I used it before, but Mom wouldn't let me leave the house with it on my face until then) until I was 22. What happened? I got pregnant and figured out I could sleep an extra 15 minutes every day if I didn't fuss with my face. When I was 27 and had 2 kids under my belt I turned to my husband and said "Does it bother you I don't do my hair and make-up anymore?" He looked at me for a minute and said "I am pretty sure there is no safe way to answer that question." I am now an everyday make-up wearer again!!!! :) I love that man!!!!!

  39. I have a VERY romantic Hubby, he's always leaving me little notes here and there. I just wish he wouldn't use my cover-up stick, lipliner and lipsticks to write them on the bathroom mirror (a dry bar of soap works just as well and costs FAR less)....this gorgeous palette may just throw him off a little LOL ;)

The girl doing my makeup didn't seem like she wanted to and when I left I looked like a clown. One night her Dad and I decided to go out dancing and she begged and pleaded to be allowed to do my eye makeup. I sat on a stool in our bathroom and let her make all the final touches.

She comes out of the bathroom with me and announces to her Dad doesn't she look lovely!

It was really very sweet, : )

  69. My makeup story is from my teenage years. I was fifteen and still wasn't allowed to wear makeup. I was WAY outside the cool kid zone at that point. So one night, my Mom decided to talk to my Dad about it. The conversation went something like this:

"I think we should let Brekke start wearing makeup."

    "But...her boobs are big."

*insert my mother reportedly almost laughing herself out of the car*

"What does THAT have to do with makeup?"

The response was something about how boys already had something to look at why add to it. In the end, I got to wear makeup. But...that story will likely haunt me forever. :)

She made an appointment for a consultation at Clinique and ended up buying me all the makeup that they used for my makeover. Then she then took me to have my hair cut and styles. I have never felt so pampered and special as I did that day! I hope to be able to do this for my daughter when she's old enough. Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!! I would be thrilled to win!

  114. Hmmm... makeup story... I keep trying mineral makeup because it looks like so much fun. But every time, it looks weird on my face and I end up giving it away.

I got sucked in again just before Christmas and came home with another starter set. I'm trying to salvage some of it, but it's not looking good.

  116. How about last night when Mom came up to me at church and asked, "Is that a bruise?" Then I brushed off a little too much face powder off my chin. Ugh! And I had been wearing it that way all evening!

  117. I was at the mall with my bf and I was wearing eye make up (mascara, some light shadow). We are walking and talking and suddenly he got a bit quiet and started staring at my face. He's not the type to gaze you into the eyes and declare his love, so I got a bit nervous. He just kept on staring, and finally I asked (in a small voice)... "whats wrong?". he replied (very seriously): "your makeup is all over your face".

turned out my new mascara flaked off in big chunks all under my eyes and on my cheeks... *slapforehead*

  118. Once, I was wearing false eyelashes and I forgot to take them off and went to sleep with them on. One came off in the middle of the night and found its way to my mouth somehow. I woke up screaming, thinking that there was a bug in my mouth and my roommate was none to pleased to be woken up for a false alarm at 3 in the morning! Thank you for this amazing giveaway and please enter me!

  135. Favorite make-up story: making myself over with my mom's bright pink 80s makeup as a child. My mom has a picture of me with pink all over my face (next to the picture of the time I decided to take up shaving).

    Thanks for entering me! :)

  137. Oh gosh, not sure I have a good story... except that my hubby just got an iPod Nano for us, and I had it in my purse the other day... it has a black rubber skin on it so he would look cool carrying it too, and my blusher broke and spilled sparkly dust all over the inside of my purse.

Now I have a sparkly Nano.

    Its all mine now.

I LOVE the packaging on the makeup! So fab!

  141. My favorite make up story is actually about my now 6 year old when she was about 3. She was visiting my Mom who adores her and will let her do all sorts of things. When I came to pick her up, the first thing Mom said was there something they needed to tell me about...then I saw my daughter. She looked like she had been beaten from ear to ear. Apparently Mom left her alone with her make up for a few minutes and that was all it took...my daughter had 'decorated' her entire face with brown and blue shades of eye shadow, thus the bruised look. She thought she looked be-u-tee-ful so how could we be mad.:D

  142. I was getting ready to go see family today and my boyfriend was sweet and told me I looked pretty. I said thank you. Then he kind of stuck his foot in his mouth and said 'It's been a long time since you looked pretty like that'.
Then I just said 'Thanks alot'

Obviously I need makeup so I can look pretty every day.
