ISO A Dynamic Trio

I hate to ask, but are you 40+? And also fabulous? Do you have two friends who are, too?

If so, you are eligible for a fantastic contest. In honor of the impending release of the film version of the long-running ABBA-riffic musical Mamma Mia, Pond's is searching for a trio of real-life girlfriends who embody the spirit of Donna and the Dynamos. To enter, record a video showing your interpretation of Dancing Queen or Mamma Mia and submit it via the Search for the Dynamos contest website by April 30th. NYC mamas may audition in person on April 28th. The winning trio will receive a trip to the London premiere of Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia was actually the last Broadway show I saw and it's a hoot. Using the music of ABBA (which has a particular resonance to me since my beloved stepfather seemed to own only one cassette- ABBA's Greatest Hits- during my punk rock youth, much to my chagrin), it tells the story of a girl raised alone by her feisty ex-singer mom who invites three men who may or may not be her father to her impending wedding. In the film version, the daughter is played by Amanda Seyfried (Sarah from the great TV show Big Love) and the mother by Meryl Streep. The other Dynamos are Julie Walters and Christine Baranski. And the potential dads? Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skaarsgard. Wow. I liked the play but the movie promises to bring it to another level.

And, for once, I wish I was 40 already! I would so rock the Search for the Dynamos contest. Umm, not.
