Chew On This!

***WINNERS PICKED 10/5 WITH RANDOM.ORG***

***CONGRATULATIONS, danosaur, wgbc1446 and guysrose!!!***

Roo's been a thumbsucker since she was in utero and even though I fear it is going to bring on an orthodontic nightmare one of these days, I kind of wish her baby brother would find his thumb. Jasper is a rotten self-soother. That, combined with his light sleeping, proclivity to waking every 90 minutes, and total indifference to pacifiers make him a pretty gigantic pain in my butt. Yes, mommy is apparently his lovey. Lucky, lucky me. Did I mention that he's a biter? Roo nursed past her second birthday and it was no big deal. But Jasper is a chomper and he's growing some molars… ouch!

I've tried various teething toys and Jasper is pretty ambivalent about them. Vibrating, gel-cooled, nubby, smooth. Then I read about the Teethifier. This little yellow pacifier/teether hybrid was specifically engineered to target the swollen gums of babies with cresting molars. I was a little skeptical about its looks (it really calls to mind those tow hitch danglers, if you know what I mean… geez, combine those looks with the teether description above and this doesn't seem like such a family-friendly blog anymore!) but I was at my wits' end and ready to try anything.

Surprise! Jasper likes the Teethifier! It seems to feel good on his poor aching gums and he chomps down on it happily. He's not accustomed to using a pacifier, though, so it takes some tethering to keep it in place. I think babies who are pacifier users would love the Teethifier even more.

To enter and win one of three Teethifiers, please comment on this post with the name of the company that makes the Teethifier.

Entries will be accepted through October 3rd and I'll pick the winner using Random.org. US/Canada readers are eligible. Only one entry/comment per person, please.

Make sure you leave an email address in your comment or that you have one accessible on your blog so you can be contacted if you win! Or, you may choose to check for your nickname at Prizey.Fetch, a site that compiles winners in one convenient place:

  1. Naomi, I think our boys are cut from the same cloth. I swear, that sounds like Sojo, who hated the pacifier from day one. He's partial to sweet taste of human flesh (mommy) instead.

I've seen the Teethifer (by Kid Gear!) on other blogs and thought it is a good idea. Sojo loves to chew and this looks like it could withstand a lot of teething.

And how cute is Jasper with his Tetthifer! Such a happy boy!

  2. HA! Your very own silicone version of brass balls. Just what every little man needs.

Kidding aside ... I couldn't get any of my kids to suck their thumbs or use a soother. I would have loved to have one of these ... especially if they would have taken it.

    VERY cute!

  6. That thing is crazy! Little Man isn't a thumb-sucker, but lately he's had a finger or thumb in his mouth gnawing where he's getting new molars.

  29. KidGear makes this unique teether. Calvin could so use this right now. I see some bicuspids poking through, but he's about gagging himself trying to chew on his finger in the back...probably some first year molars. This week, waking every 4 hours to nurse...Lord, help me. I pray those teeth poke through or that I win a teether...one or the other...just need some rest!
