Number Two

Being the little brother of a very strong willed older sister is probably tough. We all tend to follow Roo's lead and poor Jasper is constantly being schlepped around at this point. Literally, sometimes. Roo picks him up and drags him around like a gigantic baby doll that is almost as big as she is. I wonder how tolerant Jasper will be once he can walk unassisted and overtakes her in size. I often worry that he will resent her first child status, especially when she's being bossy and demanding. (Okay, that's pretty much all the time.) I worried that she would resent him for being the baby and taking all of my time since he has been the world's most sleepless and clutchy infant. But then I see them look at each other and all my fears subside. I even get a little misty-eyed watching them together. I'm an only child so I never knew about the crazy love that allows siblings to wrestle like feral dogs one minute and then snuggle like bunnies the next. The bond between these two is stronger than I could have imagined. Thank goodness.

  1. Aww ... they are gorgeous. I especially like the 3rd picture. He looks delighted to be hauled around.

  2. I love all of the pictures. I think my 2 are about the same ages as yours, although my baby might be a little younger.

It is so wonderful to see the love between them, and now that my little one is getting a little older, I'm starting to see the not-so-much-love side too. I adore it all.

  3. My favorite Jasper expression is the one he is using in the wooden horse picture. It's like he KNOWS he is cute!

  4. I love the sweet moments when the kids say things like, "I love you" to one another it just confirms for me how special, and strong the bond of siblings are! This is a great post! Hope your mac salad turns out great! Thanks for stopping by my little blog!

  5. I think the age difference is JUST enough. When they get older it will be great! She can beat the crap out of all those chicks after her little doe eyed bro.

  6. She seems like a little mama to her little "Jappy". Again, you're making me want a second one, even after only 6 months of motherhood!

Side note: Chris had a nightmare last night that I was pregnant with twins. Let it be stated that this man has dreams about plane crashes, shootings, nuclear holocaust, and spinning black cubes, yet a dream about me being pregnant so soon with twins prevented him from going back to sleep. With other nightmares, he's back snoozing after 5 minutes. Guess we won't be having another for a long time.
