The Mean Reds

I've been wanting to do this again for a while but I've had horrific dye allergies since Roo was born, which has made me kind of reticent to do much with my hair. This is, of course, a tragedy. Those of you who know me in real life know that I've been doing all manner of crazy things to my hair since 8th grade or so. I miss it. Thankfully, my friend Erica is doing hair again and has had the exact same experience, so she is sensitive to my needs. You know, for a non-blistery scalp as well as a bit of funky.

If you are in the Wichita area and would like to know more about Erica's styling services (she does nails and waxing, too! she'll even make house calls!), drop me a line. I haven't taken a picture of the adorable fauxhawk she's given Bob but trust me, it's full of cuteness.

  1. It looks great! My scalp is sensitive too, but more because of psoriasis - I love that bit of red on ya!

  2. Cute! I'm debating what color I want to add to my hair. I'm also looking for a very mild dye. Henna's good, but won't show on my brunette locs. May just wrap some yarn around a few of them and call it a day.

  3. Wow, what a change!! How'd she get it red like that? Bleach it first and then dye over it?

  4. Love the pics, Naomi! I am so glad I got to be "the one" to do your hair! :)

To answer the question about how I did it...yes, I removed a little color and brought her brown up to an orange to grab the manic-panic in red. Also, Naomi is using Redken's Color Extend shampoo and conditioner to be certain the color doesn't fade quickly.

  5. That looks great! Your hair has gotten so long too.

I keep toying with the idea of doing henna again. I used to do it every summer, but now I just don't want to deal with the mess. If only they made a paste or something easier to deal with than the leaves. I'm afraid our crappy shower couldn't handle it.
