- the kids weren't with me
- no one was hurt
- damage to the other car was minimal
- it was about two blocks from a police station
- the weather was lovely
- insurance should cover everything
The bad things:
- my very first ticket (never had a parking or speeding ticket in my life, ugh)
- my car is so old (1999) that the insurance company may very well consider it totalled
- $1000 deductible
- going to have a rental car for a while
- ruined a perfectly nice day
- my poor, poor beloved SUV looks like this:
I swear, it's all because I was cheating on it with the loaner last week. I can't tell you how bummed out I will be if they decide my car is totalled. They don't make the same body style anymore and I love it. It's my second car, ever. Sigh.
On a brighter note, the insurance guy said the lady I hit said I was "a sweet young lady" and assumed I was in my early '20s. Only off by a couple of decades. So at least my vanity had a little ego boost…
Cross your fingers and toes that my car is fixable and that I'll never be distracted by couches sitting on peoples' front lawns again.
Holy moley, I hope your car is ok. At least it wasn't that Jaguar. :)
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I'm going to have an accident at night, when I'm looking in people's windows at their decor (who cares what they're doing in there).
It's because our asian stock we stay looking young longer. Go hapas!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! That totally stinks!!!! I hope they can fix it so you can keep that cute little car shape you like.
ReplyDeletePS. Seriously Naomi, why are you still a blogspot? Buy your freakin' domain, and then move to WordPress. Do it.
Ohhh. That’s a huge damage but good thing no one got hurt. Anyway, everyone is prone to accidents. I hope you’ll get your car fixed the soonest. It’s really hard to move without a car. :p
ReplyDeleteOhhh. It looks very bad. It's good there were still good things that happened, right? Anyway, I've got my fingers crossed for your car. I hope it can still be repaired. :) Please do keep us updated. :p
ReplyDeleteAww.. too bad you got your first ticket. :) I got into my first accident when a drunk driver shifted lanes multiple times and hit the back of my car. Anyway, be thankful that nothing happened to you. I have my fingers crossed for your car!
ReplyDeleteWhat a story, Barbara! I would have been so scared if I were you that time. This is truly an inspiring story. :) I hope all is well in your family. A car crash can come at any time. That is why people must always be careful.
ReplyDeleteWell, focus on the positives on this one. Even the most minor of injuries in a car accident can be a big blow to the daily schedule of a person. Of course, the wrecked car is a big bummer, but at the very least, this can be seen as a sign to be more careful.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, the lady you hit was quite understanding, but you should always remember that you won’t be crashing into the same person every single time. Always keep in mind to keep safe while on the road. As much as possible, try to block out distractions while driving. A car crash, whether intentional, or an accident is a serious crime and it is punishable by law, even more so if someone died during the accident. So, you’d better drive safely :)
