Summer Layering with Fresh Produce

My grandma always used to make me bring a cardigan everywhere I went. At the time, I always thought it was totally lame (sorry, grandma!) but then I'd realize her wisdom once we were in some chilly restaurant or movie theater or if I needed something to squish up and use as a pillow on too-long car rides. Now, with the added bonus of upper arm phobia, I can see the wisdom of the ubiquitous layering piece, especially if you happen to live in a place that actually cools off at night. Unlike Kansas in July, when the high of 106º will probably drop down to a brisk 91º or so at night.

Anyhow, earlier this summer I received what has become my go-to layering piece. Fresh Produce makes a wide variety of super-comfy cotton clothes that layer well but their Standing Ovation Cardigan truly lives up to its name.

Mine is the greyish "oyster" color but it's available in a dozen other hues, from standard black, white and neutrals to Fresh Produce's signature brights. It's very lightweight and soft, like your favorite old t-shirt but with a snuggly asymmetrical front hem that you can wear loose and draped or wrapped and belted. It comes in three sizes: xs/s, m/l and xl/xxl. I ordered the m/l to be on the safe side but the sizing runs very generous, so I probably should have gotten the xs/s.

I love how versatile it is. You can wear it after the gym without looking too hoity-toity:

Or you can pair it with a dress for a more gussied up look:

Fresh Produce offers many other styles of women's cardigans, too– none of them frumpy in the slightest. Their unique women's tops are totally made for summer living. The current pick of the week is the super cute Mandarin Collar Button Up, on sale for only $19.99:

I got to visit a Fresh Produce retail store when we were in Sarasota over spring break and was pleasantly surprised to find out they make adorable kids clothing, too. Comfort spans generations, you know…

In accordance to the FTC Guidelines and the WOMMA Code of Ethics, I am disclosing that I received the cardigan shown above to facilitate this review, which was made possible by Mom Spark Media. All opinions, however, are my own.
