Miss Anastasia Smells Divine

Nothing can change your mood more than fragrance. I'm a firm believer in the power of aromatherapy to perk up the body and soul. Scent memory evokes time, place, feelings… it's a pretty amazing thing.

When I had kids, I stopped wearing perfume. Not so much because I thought the scents were harmful but because it was weird smelling myself on the babies. Now that they're older and less prone to be laying all over me, I have returned to my quest for the perfect signature fragrance. I've found a prime candidate in Miss Anastasia, a sultry minx hailing from Seattle.

I think the packaging is lovely, don't you? Well, the scent itself is even better. It has a sweet base of vanilla but instead of being sugary or overly flowery, it layers on some heady Oriental florals and a bit of musk and patchouli. Don't let that last note scare you! It's very subtle.

Actually, my first thought when I dabbed it on my wrists was "posh head shop." This might not sound immediately appealing if you're not a lover of old school record stores and thrift shopping. I've been pawing through bins of junk and treasure since junior high, so finding a scent that reminds me of the crazy old hippie incense from my youth as well as a bit of retro glamour was pretty thrilling. Miss Anastasia is what I was hoping the Agent Provocateur perfume would smell like but that has way too much of a powdery whiff for my liking. It's a bold fragrance but also very soft-spoken.

Miss Anastasia is the creation of Julie Wray, proprietress of Olivine's Charm School. Keep posted on her many fruitful endeavors on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

ReJuvenescence Home Fragrance Giveaway

There are certain products that you never knew you needed but that add a little extra oomph to your everyday life. ReJuvenescence is one of those inventions- a patented new bathroom fragrance option that freshens your bathroom with 100% natural essential oils each time you unroll the toilet paper.

Rejuvenescence toilet tissue holders are made in the USA from recycled materials and provide simple but smart aromatherapy for the toughest room in the house, with no chemical additives, matches or messy sprays. They are available in three fragrance blends:
  • Wild Orchid- A delicate infusion of orchids, red currant, birds of paradise, peach and persimmon.
  • Moonflower- A floral mix of moonflower, yellow rose, grapefruit, raspberry, pomegranate, mandarin and frangipani.
  • Spice - A refreshing blend of clove, cinnamon, sandalwood, frankincense, china musk, mulberry, Blue Nile, and peach.
The signature Rejuvenescence fragrances are also available in environmentally-friendly, biodegradable 100% soy wax candles.

We have two and a half baths, plus a five year old boy and kitty litterboxes so I was very anxious to try Rejuvenescence. It's been wonderful in the kids' bathroom. The scent is very subtle and only becomes obvious when you activate the fragrance by rolling. Clever! Unfortunately, I totally blanked on the fact that we have slide-on toilet paper holders in the other bathrooms, so we can't use standard roll holders there. Rejuvenescence paper towel holders are in the works, so I'm excited to hear more about them in the future.

Enter to win a combination pack of Rejuvenescence toilet tissue holders in all 3 scents along with a “follow Thru” tee and hat valued at $55 by filling out the form below.

Leila Lou by Rosie Jane Giveaway

Leila Lou by Rosie Jane is a new fragrance collection that I am totally obsessed with. It's a light, clean floral with citrusy and grassy tendencies. This sounds bizarre but to me Leila Lou is the olfactory equivalent of walking barefoot through a freshly mown yard. Rosie Jane, a mother of two, confided to me that she was inspired to create the fragrance to feel instantly fresh without actually having to wash. I know that feeling well!

I've had samples in my possession for a week and I'm already half through them.… Seriously– I reapply the perfume oil a bazillion times a day and probably look insane, since I sniff my wrists constantly. Bob says it smells even better on my skin. The Leila Lou perfume oil comes in a convenient 5ml rollerball vial that fits into the teeniest of pockets so you can reapply as necessary. (Like a bazillion times a day, that would be my recommendation.) There's also a great incentive to recycle: Leila Lou Give Back Program. If you return three roller bottles, you receive a fourth one free!

Leila Lou by Rosie Jane is also available as a body lotion. It makes your skin soft and fragrant. If you use it in combination with the perfume oil, it lasts even longer. If you want your home to smell like Leila Lou, they offer a slow-burning candle in a simple but elegant glass votive.
