I already told you about Katja's good luck with Tom Cruise and Oprah. Well, being the energetic and sweet person that she is, the whole experience spurred her to start a new venture, one that would benefit not only her store (the wonderful Skimbaco), but the whole mompreneur/blogging community. In honor of her luck with Suri's shoes, she's named her new enterprise LadyBug Landings.



Katja envisions LadyBug Landings as a PR service and networking tool for "LadyBosses and LadyBloggers" to come together. (Did I mention she was bitten by ladybug luck only a month ago and already gotten this rolling? Plus she has an online boutique and three kids? She is awesome.) The website features case studies of actual independent retailers to show how LadyBosses can grow their own businesses more successfully. I am personally intrigued by Katja's other main goal for LadyBug Landings: to help bloggers increase their traffic and monetize their blogs. I haven't yet committed to advertising on my blog but I am so curious about how I could make it pay for itself someday.

Now that you've learned all about LadyBug Landings, let's talk some more about Tom and Suri again. Along with the fabulous ladybug maryjanes, the Cruise family received other goodies from Skimbaco. My favorites were some personalized goodies by Blume. Hats, tees, underpants… you name it, and Blume literally names it. No matter how funny your name or slogan is. her comment: I would use them on baby socks since we have a decent amount of linoleum in this house. I also might use them on the bottom of some ceramics that were handmade for us, as they need something to protect the furniture, and this would keep them from sliding around, too. :)



Once in a while, I come across a product so simple and ingenious, I immediately ask myself "why didn't I think of that?" This one was dreamed up by two moms on their daily mass-transit commute who wondered why only some of their kids' socks and none of their tights had non-slip soles. Their solution? Grippies are little rubbery shapes that adhere to the bottoms of your socks or tights to provide traction on slippery floors. They come in self-adhesive and iron-on varieties. (I prefer the stick-on version because I am lazy and abhor ironing.)



Grippies are clear so they blend in on whatever they are rendering slip-proof. Each package contains 16 stars and sells for $5, so they are very affordable. Once adhered, Grippies are machine washable, actually becoming even more, umm, grippy. You could also use them on the palms of gloves or on the knees of your beginning crawler's pants or legwarmers. Heck, you could even stick them to non-clothing items that you want to stay in place. Baby dishes, vases, you name it. I am also contemplating trying them in high heeled sandals to prevent slipping in sweaty foot season.
