We Can't Afford to Wait
No matter what your political viewpoints are, it's clear that some kind of change needs to happen to our insurance system. I think having a public option would force insurance companies to compete for our business. My husband is self-employed and I stay at home with the kids. We pay almost $600/month for our health insurance (BCBS) and still have a high deductible and copays. A medical emergency would truly be financially catastrophic. I can't imagine what families with chronically/critically ill members have to deal with.

It's the same here. One emergency and poof!, it's all gone. I've been without health insurance since BoyX was born. It was a choice of either my child having insurance or myself having insurance. That's a choice I made without thinking twice but the reality is, what happens if my child is left motherless?
ReplyDeleteThis is the land of plenty and people are dieing from not having basic health care. Public option certainly seems like a viable alternative.
