Eleven and See Kai Run Help Haitian Kids

We're long-time fans of Eleven Collection shoes and their sister brands, See Kai Run and Smaller. Every season brings a new excuse to peruse their wares. (In fact, Eleven's new spring collection should be out next month.)

This fall and winter, Jasper has been wearing the dashing chocolate brown suede Finn slip-ons:

Roo's shoe of choice has been the understated black Sylvie mary jane with silver floral applique. I want them in my size!

One of the things that makes me love See Kai Run and Eleven, aside from the obvious cuteness of their shoes, is that the companies operate as a family. It seems like I am always reading about festive sample sales that sound like block parties, featuring SKR and other über cool Portland businesses. Since the company's birth in 2004 (same year as Roo!), See Kai Run has donated over 30,000 pairs of shoes to international, national and local charities and their continuing partnership with Soles4Souls has allowed them to supply footwear for thousands of children around the world. Today, I learned that See Kai Run has put together an emergency shoe donation of nearly 3,000 pairs to help child victims of the earthquake in Haiti. According to Soles4Souls, a sturdy pair of shoes is absolutely necessary in times like these when the amount of broken glass, twisted metal and raw sewage is staggering.

Soles4Souls accepts ongoing shoe donations from individuals and retailers. You can donate new or gently worn shoes that are just taking up space in your closet -- every little bit counts. Just bind each pair with rubber bands and drop them off at a participating location. Or, send them to a Soles4Souls warehouse facility.

See Kai Run and Eleven encourage you to visit Soles4Souls to find out other ways you can donate.

Disclosure: we received the shoes pictured in order to write about them. Quite a while ago. They're on sale now and they are nicer than most of my own shoes. Seriously!
